Day 13: British Boys and Italian Ice Cream.

Our time in Florence could not have gone better. We arrived early in the morning and found a small cafe right around the corner from the bus station. We used their bathroom and wifi. We made our way to the train station where we got cheap tickets for such late notice. Next we began the search for our hostel. Thankfully it was only 2 minutes away from the station by foot. The owner of the hostel was the best! He was very sweet and absolutely hysterical. He even drew out a map of all the ‘must sees’ of Florence. While we waited for our beds we met two British boys who have been traveling through Europe also. We swapped some stories and made lists of our favorite places so far. Also staying at the hostel were three American boys. We made conversation with them and found out that one of them is from Boise Idaho (crazy coincidence), which is 2 hours away from our home town. Once our room was prepared, we dropped off our bags and headed out to see Florence!

Becca and I fell in love with the city of Florence. We love the old rustic buildings filling the thin stone streets and old squares filled with shops and restaurants.

We hit up all the places on our map, saw lots of statues and beautiful cathedrals, and treated ourselves to some galeto (be jealous). We got terribly lost trying to find an overlook of the city. Not knowing at all where to go we scaled a wall and made our own overlook. Finally we found the real one, and also ran into our British friends from the hostel. We walked with them a bit then parted ways to wander the streets.

For dinner we bought some pizza (be even more jealous). We then headed to our hostel, showered, and attempted to get a good nights sleep.
